Like the prodigal son, there are times God lets us go down the wrong road so we can realize our mistakes willfully return to Him. I had to go down this road to be fully convinced that nothing will ever go right when I work without or go behind God.
Like the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-31, who was scared of a life without possessions, I too didn’t want to give up my comfort. It’s not that I didn’t want to grow, its that the risk was too much.
I could make plans, but God is in charge of their outcome. My mere human efforts could never bring about the fulfilment of God’s promises in my life. Abraham and Moses learnt this the hard way and so did I.
The grace for obedience is the ability to do the will of God, no matter how much your flesh struggles against it. Obedience in this context doesn’t just mean following God’s instructions, it also means living a life that is holy and devoted to God.
